Grade 4- Harcourt Reading

The website is www.thinkcentral.com.  You will select Reading and Language Arts.  Then click on the Storytown icon.  Select  state, county, and school.  Then enter your child’s username and password.  I hope having these resources online help.  Students can reread the story each week on line! Please sign a square in your child's homework folder each time they use the program. Five sessions will equal a school treat!

Read Well- Grades K-2

Our ESE students have been provided a new reading program through Martin County.  The program, Read Well, has daily lessons which cover the five areas of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension and vocabulary.  Each themed unit has an AR book that is read to the students.  Each student is given the opportunity to take an AR test on that selection with assistance from the teacher.  Each lesson has a variety of games that are used to reinforce the skill. 

Each night your child has reading homework.  Each unit has four small lessons that your child is to read to you three times each. Please initial at the bottom of each page so I know that your child is practicing at home. This will ensure reading success!  At times I will send home the text. Please have your child read all of the student stories to you.  Each student has a 3x5 card reading ring in their pencil case. This ring is updated with the unit vocabulary.  Please review these words as often as possible with your child, as well as the Dolch words and Great Leaps words on the green sheet.

Each second grade student brings home an AR book each night.  Please have your child read the book to you three times. You may assist as needed.  Please indicate on the green sheet when your child is ready to take a test.
