History of the Fifth Grade Legacy

In 1994, when Mrs. Stephanie Parrish (currently teaching 1st grade) was our assistant principal, she mentioned to me that she thought it would be nice if every fifth grader left a legacy. I asked her how she envisioned that happening, and she suggested that we paint a bookcase on the wall in the 5th grade hallway, have each 5th grader choose his or her favorite book, and instead of putting the author's name on the book, put the student's. It sounded like a wonderful idea, and I asked her who she had in mind to paint the bookcase. She lightly said, "Oh, I'll find a parent or volunteer to do it. " And the tradition began. Please enjoy the bookcase murals, and watch for some history on each.
